wrist distaffs
Wrist Distaffs hang from the wrist allowing the spinner to wrap the roving to be spun around the cord. Hanging below the wooden disk is a 'wraps per inch (WPI) tool' used to determine the type of yarn being spun. Most loop lengths are approximately 23cm with the weight of the distaff between 15gm-22gms. These distaffs are an invaluable tool for any spindler, as they stop the loose roving from accidentally wrapping around the spinning fibre and spindle!
