suri alpaca raw fleece

Alpacas are a domesticated member of the camelid family, and along with Llamas, Guanacos and Vicunas, are native to South America. The main characteristic of the Alpaca is the fleece, which is commonly called "Fibre of the Gods . Alpacas can also be separated into Two Types "Suri" and "Huacaya"

Huacaya vs Suri

The main difference between the Suri and the Huacaya is the Fleece type. The Huacaya exhibits a fluffy and dense fleece that stands away from the body. The Suri has a completely different style that falls down from the body in dreadlocks ,leaving the backbone partly exposed, and should be extremely lustrous with a beautiful silky handle.

Unique Fleece "SURI"

In ancient Inca society, only royalty and nobility were permitted to wear garments of Suri fibre. That puts Suri in a unique class! It has all the desirable qualities of Alpaca. It is particularly desirable for suiting , combined with other natural fibres to produce a lightweight fabric to die for .

Rare Alpacas and the Suri Advantage

The Suris are outnumbered many times over by Huacaya worldwide, therefore they are considered to be rare and unusual.
